The idea behind what lebones is supposed to be is not easy to put into words. The idea of lebones first came to me back in 2022, when I was sick at home and had nothing better to do. I found the old family camera, downloaded a free editing software, and made a stop-motion video with the intention of posting it online. Since then, I’ve worked on more and more projects, challenging myself with each new video and chiseling out my own unique editing style. It became an incredibly fulfilling hobby, as it allowed me to practice problem-solving, writing techniques, and flex my creative muscles in ways I’ve never done before.
It’s through this repetition that I managed to achieve national recognition. After working on a legal research project in a video format, I was convinced to submit it to the Broadcasting Education Association Festival of Media Arts. Under the Instructional/Educational category for the 2026 student film and video competition, my video placed first (somehow). It’s clear to me that through the countless hours that I’ve spent recording footage, writing/thinking of new ideas, and piecing everything together in a janky editing software, I have turned myself into not just a good editor, but one worth competing with.
The thing is though, lebones wasn’t what made me who I am now. The name “lebones” is just that, a name. It’s not a person or a title or a job of any kind, it’s the process of learning and becoming more skilled, and because of that, lebones could be anybody. For all you know, it could be you.
